Political Appointments After Oct, 2002 Annulled

The cabinet council meeting annulled the appointments made by different governments going back to October 4, 2002.

This decision that will affect over 200 political appointees to various corporations and semi-government agencies is being considered a revolutionary step of the cabinet, which is sometimes criticised by parlimentarians as dithering from making bold decisions.

Annulling all the political appointments made by the previous governments after October 4, 2002, the government Sunday decided to recall Nepal's ambassadors to 12 countries.

The ambassadors of India, United Kingdom, United States of America, Japan, Russia, France, Thailand, Myanmar, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Pakistan were recalled.

The decision to this effect was taken by the cabinet meeting held at the residence of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala this evening.Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula read out the government announcement following the two-hour-long meeting today.

Similarly, while the cabinet appointed a committee under Dr Sudha Sharma to recommend further medical treatment for those currently undergoing treatment, the government is also scrutinising the 22-point code of conduct that will pave the way for talks between the government and the Maoists.
