House panel presents, approves Bill, report
Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations and Human Rights Committee, Mahendra Yadav, presented the Bill on Amending Some Nepal Acts Related to Export-Import and Intellectual Property-2006, along with the Committee report at the meeting of the House of Representatives today.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives at its meeting today unanimously approved the proposal related to Nepal becoming a party to the United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances-1971. Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat had presented the proposal to this effect at the meeting of the House of Representatives on behalf of Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
The meeting of the House of Representatives today unanimously approved the proposal seeking consideration of the Parliament on the Drinking Water Management Board Bill-2006 and the Drinking Water Tariff Fixation Commission Bill-2006.
Presenting the proposal in this connection, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Gopal Man Shrestha explained that the Bills had to be brought for resolving the drinking water problem in the capital. MP Narayan Man Bijukchhe, Taking part in the general discussions on the Bill, expressed his disagreement over the Bills, stating that the Bills were retrograde in nature.
The meeting of the House of Representatives also unanimously approved the proposal seeking that the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Bill-2006 be sent to the Committee concerned for clause-wise discussions on it. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Amik Sherchan had presented the proposal to this effect.
Likewise, the House of Representatives at its meeting today unanimously passed the Bill on Secured Transactions-2006, the Bank and Financial Institutions Loan Recovery (First Amendment) Bill-2006 and the Insolvency Bill-2006, along with the report of the Finance Committee. Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat had presented these Bills in the House for approval. Similarly, the meeting of the House of Representatives today unanimously passed the Poverty Alleviation Fund Bill-2006 along with the report of the Finance Committee.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nemwang had presented the Bill on behalf the Prime Minister. The meeting, likewise, unanimously passed the Bill Related to Senior Citizens-2006 presented by Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Urmila Aryal. The next meeting of the House of Representatives will be held on November 6.
