APF opened fire outside the court

Dang, March 9 - Armed Police Force (APF) personnel posted outside District Court Dang, on Wednesday afternoon suddenly opened fire at Kamal Bahadur Rawal, 15, of Rukum-9 a detainee who was just released by the court as he was riding pillion on a motorcycle.

Rawal and the unidentified motorcyclist, who were heading towards the former's home after hearing the court's order, were fired upon at a security check point outside the court's gate. They were simultaneously shot at from both sides of the road. The duo said they had a narrow escape. A bullet pierced Rawal's cap, missing his skull by a few inches.

Acting Chief District Officer, Giridhar Yadav and AFP District Superintendent of Police, Majgaiya, stated that the bullets were fired "accidentally". However, eyewitnesses, stated that the policemen had aimed and deliberately fired at them. Rawal has appealed to the court, media persons and law practitioners for his safety.

Meanwhile, district Bar Association Dang has condemed the incident, have asked for an immediate investigation into the firing.
