Student unions to move SC

Kathmandu, March 6-According to Thakur Gaire, general secretary of the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), Eight student unions affiliated to various political parties will file a writ in the Supreme Court seeking the apex order to scarp the existing Free Students’ Union of the Saraswati Multiple Campus.

The students will file the case demanding dissolution of FSU committee of the campus.

The student bodies have opposed the new committee stating that it was formed illegally. The election commission of the campus had declared the 11-member panel headed by Man Bir Lama (independent) along with five members from the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) as the new FSU team of SMC at midnight on February 25.

Though members of the NSU too were included in the panel, it had announced that it would not give recognition to the new FSU body. The student leaders said that they would move the court as the election body of the campus had postponed all poll-related activities on February 20 till further notice citing adverse circumstances.

A group of students had barred ANNFSU and NSU affiliated to the Nepali Congress (Democratic) from filing nominations.
