Submit Original File on Detainees : SC

Kathmandu, March 1- The Supreme Court on Tuesday again ordered the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to produce the original file of the case in the court.that was came Days after the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) told the Supreme Court it had neither detained nor arrested four suspected Maoists, Ranjit Darnal, Amrit Darnal, Rajendra Chaurel and Pushpa Raj Basnet.

The NHRC had said in a report that the four suspected Maoists had been detained in the Jagadalgan army barracks.

A division bench of justices Paramananda Jha and Pawan Kumar Ojha issued the order to the NHRC regarding the detention of Darnal, Darnal, Chaurel and Basnet.

Submitting written explanations, legal unit chief of the RNA, BA Kumar Sharma, and Jagadalgan barracks said neither the army had arrested the suspected Maoists nor had it detained them.

A few months ago, the NHRC had sent a report to the apex court, claiming that an NHRC team had found the alleged Maoists in the Jagadalgan barracks. The four were detained without following legal procedures, the NHRC had claimed in the report.
