Constituent Assembly only one way

Kathmandu, March 3- Second day of Lawyers taking part in the Golden Jubilee Convention of the Nepal Bar Association on thursday demanded a Constituent Assembly that would draft a new Constitution and resolve the political and constitutional crisis in the country.

The lawyers demanded the Assembly during their discussion on constitutional issues.

Some lawyers have launched a signature campaign for the same to draft the political and main legal document.

They said that since the King has grossly violated the 1990 Constitution, there is no option left but to draft a new document to make the people powerful.

Presenting and discussing several working papers on Constitutional issues, the lawyers said there is an urgent need to go for a constituent assembly.

Former bar association president Harihar Dahal and senior advocate Bishwakanta Mainali presented the working papers.

According to Mainali, though Constituent Assembly will not resolve all problems facing the nation, it would be a point of departure to solve the problems.
