The Supreme Court on Sunday issued a show-cause notice in the name of the defendants in response to a writ petition, calling for repealing of the new Coat-of-Arms the government is bringing into use as it is inconsistent with the Constitution. The order to this effect was issued by the single bench of SC judge Khilaraj Regmi.The writ petition lodged by advocate Bhupendra Prasad Pokharel states that the Coat-of-Arms could be changed only through the Constitution.
The writ petition has named the PMO and Council of Ministers also as the defendant.
