CIAA files cases against 11 on public land issue
Kathmandu April 4- The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Monday filed cases against 11 persons alleging them of registering 73 ropanis of public land of Gaidakot VDC in Nawalparasi district into private ownership, a press statement of the CIAA said.
The Commission has claimed that the public land worth Rs. 13.5 million in the name of Surya Bhakta Adhikari, resident at Gaidakot-5 in the district with the involvement of government officials of Kawaseti Land Registration Office (LRO).
The government officers allegedly involved in the case are then officers of the LRO Laxmi Prasad Gyawali, Basudev Paudel, non-gazetted officers Ram Palat Prasad Chaudhari and Ram Bahadur Hamal.Similarly, the Commission has accused then vice-chairman of VDC Kirtinath Chilise, and six sons of Surya Bhakta Adhikari Rohanbhakta, Madanbhakta, Krishnabhakta, Sohanbhakta and Mahendrabhakta.
According to the press statement of the Commission it has instructed the concerned authority to initiate departmental action against Bijaya Kumar Shrestha, non-gazetted officer of Nawalparasi District Administration Office on charges of failing to maintain professional ethics of the government officials.
Meanwhile, the Commission filed a case against three persons including then officer of the Transportation Management Office Bagmati Branch Abdul Rais Khan on charges of corruption for illegally registering a pajero (Ba 2 Cha 9658).The Commission in the chargesheet has demanded that a fine of Rs. 3.2 M be imposed on those charged of corruption and also forfeit an equal amount of the cash that they amassed illegally.
Those accused on the case include then non-gazetted officer of the Branch Hukum Bahadur Karki and vehicle owner Raj Kumar Shrestha.The Commission had filed different cases against Khan in the similar cases of involving vehicle registration illegally in the previous days, the press statement said.
