Attack on SC justice Giri
A miscreant attacked the senior-most Justice of the Supreme Court, Kedar Prasad Giri, with a knife on Thursday.
Prabhat Kumar Gupta, a permanent resident of Birgunj made the attempt after forcefully entering Giri's house at Ghattekulo, Thursday evening.
“He attacked my father with a knife after forcefully entering our house at 6.30 p.m.,” reports quoted Justice Giri’s son Sudip Giri, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police at Police Headquarters as saying.
Gupta had entered the residence on the pretext of giving Giri a 'confidential letter'.
However, when Justice Giri appeared, he attacked him. Justice Giri sustained injuries on hand and face. Justice Giri was taken to Bir Hospital and discharged after first aid.
Kathmandu Metropolitan Police has arrested Gupta and initiated investigation.
In his statement to the police, Gupta said he had lost a case in the Supreme Court regarding a dispute with a tenant and wanted to pressure the judges to resign
