SC show cause on Shrish Rana case
The Supreme Court on thrusday issued a show cause notice to the Ministry of Information and Communications on its decision to recover Rs 3.6 million from former minister of state Shrish Sumsher Rana.
A single bench of Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi gave the Ministry 15 days to furnish a reply. The Minister of State for Information and Communication in the King Gyanendra-led Cabinet, Rana had moved the SC on November 23 after receiving a letter from the Ministry asking him to return the money. He termed Ministry’s decision to ask him to repay the amount “illegal”.
Rana claimed the amount was spent according to the decision of the council of ministers. The SC also issued show cause notices to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and airline operators on additional surcharge to consumers that they have imposed.
