SC condemns attack on Justice Giri

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday condemned the attack on the senior-most judge at the Supreme Court Kedar Prasad Giri.

Following the apparent bid on life of Giri, a meeting of the SC Justices presided by Chief Justice Dilip Kumar Poudel this morning demanded that the government provide the security to the judges and the entire judiciary.

Stating that the attack on Giri has raised a question mark over the security of the entire Judiciary, the SC Justices meeting also demanded that the government investigate the incident.

One Prabhat Kumar Gupta, a permanent resident of Birgunj made the attack on Giri at his residence at Ghattekulo on Thursday evening.
Giri narrowly escaped fatal injury from the knife attack aimed at his neck. According to a family source, Gupta had entered the residence on the pretext of giving Giri a 'confidential letter.'

Similarly, condemning the attack, the SC Bar Association also through a press release has asked the government to investigate the incident and take stern action against the culprit.

Police has already begun its investigation and has filed a case against Gupta of attempting a murder.
