CIAA directed govt firms to recover revenue

Kathmandu, Jan11-The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has recently directed several state-owned corporations to recover government revenue.

The anti-graft constitutional body directed the corporations, including Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation, Nepal Oil Corporation, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Nepal Electricity Authority, to recover the revenue.

“They did not recover revenue within the stipulated date, so we have directed them to work appropriately,” CIAA commissioner Beda Prasad Siwakoti told himalaya times reports. The CIAA found out that some private airlines and government corporations have not been paying revenue to the government in the stipulated time.

“The figure shows that there is Rs 32 billion un-audited expense of the government and some responsibility rests on the government-owned corporations,” he added. “Recently we have directed all the government secretaries to follow standards in every sector and to specify works of every official,” he also added.

According to him, the corporations are responsible for not recovering about Rs 30 million. “We have directed the authorities concerned to recover the revenue,” he added.

The CIAA also directed the government authorities to regularise the foreign aid. “There is an urgent need to regularise the foreign aid which is being spent haphazardly,” he added.

The anti-graft body also directed authorities concerned to maintain the standard of consumer products. “Since it is part of a good governance, we have directed the authorities concerned to maintain the standard,” Siwakoti added.
