EC will wait till final verdict

Kathmandu Jan 16-Spokesman of the Election Commission, Tej Muni Bajracharya said on Monday the Commission is waiting for the final verdict of the Appellate Court before making any decision on the dispute regarding the legitimacy of the two factions of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

“For the moment, we are studying the case seriously but we first give priority to the court decision,” he said while talking to journalists, adding, it was quite a complicated and new issue for the commission.

The Patan Appellate Court has directed the Commission to attend the hearing on the case scheduled for Thursday.

The RPP lead by Pashupati Shamsher Rana, on Monday, presented its claim of legitimacy to the Commission.

Parasu Ram Khapung, Spokesman of the mother party, said confidently that all evidences presented to the Commission were sufficient enough to prove their legitimacy.

The Commission had set today’s deadline both the dissident and founding factions of the RPP to present their case along with the supporting evidences for their claim of legitimacy. The dissident faction led by Home Minister Kamal Thapa had presented its claim at the Commission yesterday.
