Advocate knocked the doors of UHCHR

Kathmandu, Dec 12-An advocate today knocked the doors of the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights in Nepal complaining about the Supreme Court's delay in hearing and verdict on a case that demands the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.

Advocate Dhruba Koirala filed a petition seeking the OHCHR's advice and necessary help to expedite hearing and a final verdict on the case by the Nepal’s apex court as soon as possible.

The petitioner claimed that such help was needed because the remedy from the domestic authorities concerned proved inadequate.Koirala had moved the Supreme Court seeking the reinstatement of the dissolved house. The case is pending at the apex court.

Responding to him the OHCHR Chief Ian Martin told Koirala that his message would be conveyed to the UN Secretary General Kufi Annan.
