DAO denies ban on rallies

Kathmandu Dec 1-The Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) on Wednesday has clarified that it has not issued any prohibitory orders on some locations in the capital for Friday as reported by media.
A release issued by the DAO on Wednesday said, "The attention of the office has been drawn towards the news published in different newspapers on Wednesday stating that some places in Kathmandu district were declared prohibited zones."

The state-owned news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), which is considered the most authentic news media for providing government information, reported on Tuesday that the DAO has banned mass public gatherings in various parts of the city including Naya Baneshwor, where the UML is scheduled to take out a protest rally against the government on Friday.

The RSS had said the area from Maitighar to Teenkune and to Tilganga, Bagmati Bridge and the area starting from Purano Baneshwor Chowk to Naya Baneshwor Chowk have been announced as prohibited areas.

Sushil Ghimire, chief district officer (CDO) of Kathmandu said, "The administration has not imposed any ban order in any new locations."
