Court asks Govt to Provide Health Services to Matrika Yadav

Kathmandu, Dec 2-The Patan Appellate Court today ordered the Department of Prison Management to immediately provide health services to the detained politburo member of the CPN (Maoist), Matrika Prasad Yadav.

Following today's hearing, a division bench of justices Laxman Mani Risal and Nanda Raj Adhikary issued the order after Yadav complained the bench that the government did not provide health services to him even after several requests.

Yadav has been suffering from several diseases like ulcer and sore throat for long.

The bench also ordered there was no need to release Yadav and his colleague Suresh Ale Magar on bail today as the duo have also been waiting final decision on a murder case regarding the killing of the then IGP of Armed Police Force some three years ago.

Yadav and Ale Magar have been charged along with most high-ranking Maoist leaders including Prachanda, Baburam Bhattarai and Ram Bahadur Thapa with various charges. The government has sought up to ten years imprisonment to the Maoists leaders as per the Clause 10(3) for their alleged involvement in banned activities.
