Case against regional administrator

Hetauda, December 12-Editor of the Hetauda Sandesh daily, Santosh Neupane, has filed a writ at the Hetauda appellate court against regional administrator Rabindra Chakrabarti, accusing him of keeping him in custody for eight hours illegally. On December 4, Chakrabarti had ordered Neupane’s arrest in connection with news pieces published in Hetauda Sandesh and Himal magazine against him. Subsequently, Neupane was taken into police custody.

Supported by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists’ member Bishnu Chhimeki, Neupane decided to file a writ against Chakrabarti. Neupane has named the administration office, administrator Chakrabarti and the district police office, Makwanpur as respondents. President of the Hetauda Appellate Bar Association, Dhruba Prasad Chaulagain promised to plead Neupane’s case for free.
