Foreign ministry lied to SC: Ex-army men's body

Kathmandu, Dec 2-The National Ex-army Council has accused the ministry of Foreign Affairs of lying about its submission of a so-called 2001 agreement between the United Nations and government on deployment of RNA men abroad. Yesterday, the NEC in a press meet said the ministry’s claim the agreement was signed in 2001 was false. The NEC said the RNA and the government did not provide compensation to army personnel as per agreement between the government and UN while deploying them on missions abroad.

In a press release the NEC said, contrary to the ministry’s claim that the agreement was signed in 2001 the government was actually signed in 1973, after which the government started sending army personnel abroad on peace keeping missions. NEC chairman Ambar Bahadur Thapamagar also accused the RNA of misusing the army welfare fund. He added that the Council would soon file a contempt of court case against the ministry.
