Show cause order issued

The Supreme Court issued show cause notice to the government regarding the writ petition to review the provision of adoption in the Civil Code.Advocate Nirmala Upreti filed the writ petition two days ago arguing that the No. 11 of the Civil Code of the adoption does not protect the rights of the adopted children regarding their right to equality, right to nationality and right to recognition. The adopted child has to suffer various difficulties in the homeland as well abroad due to lack of proper legal provision in the code, the writ has claimed. Advocate Chandrakanta Gyawali pleaded on behalf of the petitioner.

RCCC has initiated investigation

RCCC has initiated investigation into alleged irregularities while procuring vaccines of Japanese encephalitis. According to the Commission, it has been interrogating senior officials of the Department of Health Services, accountants along with officials of the Health Ministry in this connection.The Commission has been consulting experts regarding the alleged irregularities, spokesman of the Commission Prem Raj Karki said. Karki said that the process for the procurement of the vaccine with assistance from World Bank and DFID should have started in Bhadra 2061 and the process should have been completed by the end of that fiscal year. But the process was not completed within the stipulated time.Karki said during the investigation it was found that only one vaccine producer or supplier had bid in the tender resulting in the failure of the tendering.
