Kathmandu, Sept. 3- Chief Justice of Supreme Court Dilip Kumar Poudyal has said that the Supreme Court is committed to protection of rights of women and their development while adding that it is making efforts in that direction.He said this while inaugurating the workshop on “Legal protection of women” organised here on the occasion of silver jubilee of Dillibazar Girls’ Multiple Campus.Stressing the need for imparting legal education for women, Chief Justice Poudyal said the Supreme Court has issued an order to the government to pronounce unacceptable the practice of chaupadi against women and other social evil practices.Secretary of Judicial council, Kashiraj Dahal observed that a separate campaign for the women has to be taken up as the women lack access to the resources and education and other facilities. Justice Anupraj Sharma called on the women to take up the campaign with vigour.At the programme, advocate Sindhunath Pyakurel presented working paper on “Legal rights of Women” and said Nepal should implement international treaties and agreement in favor of Nepalese women. He also observed that the national Human Rights Commission and National Women’s Commission should be strengthened.Those who were felicitated on the occasion are Mrs. Rama Malla, Munkunda Raj Aryal, Dr. Prabha Basnet, Mukunda Sharma, Tarakraj Ojha, Prof. Hari Sharma, Purusottam Ghimire, Shyam Bahadur Karki, and Bishnu Timilsinha.Likewise, students who stood first in their respective faculties were also felicitated with certificates.The programme was presided over by justice of the programme Shree Kedar Prasad Giri.
