Kathmandu, September 12-The Supreme Court today said it would issue a verdict on writ petitions that seek action against CIAA chief Suryanath Upadhyay for his alleged involvement in graft cases in Bagmati and Mahakali Irrigation Projects.
A division bench of justices Kedar Prasad Giri and Sharada Prasad Pandit today scheduled September 26 as the date to pronounce the verdict in the cases. The bench was responding to two separate writ petitions filed by advocate Saroj Sharma.
Sharma had filed the cases in SC two years ago accusing the chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Surya Nath Upadhyay, of corruption in the projects.
Sharma has accused Upadhyay of being involved in corruption and illegally amassing property when he was the secretary at the Ministry of Water Resources.
