Kathmandu, Aug 31-The Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) has demanded a bail of Rs 5.1 million from former minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader, Rajiv Parajuli.
A three-member panel of RCCC, comprising Raghu Chandra Bahadur Singh, Haribabu Chaudhary and Prem Bahadur Khati, demanded bail from Khati on Wednesday after preliminary hearings on the case of corruption against Parajuli.
The Commission had filed a case of corruption against Parajuli early this week alleging Prajauli of amassing property worth Rs 15.3 million through illegal means.
Parajuli told the Commission on Wednesday that he was unable to deposit the bail amount on Tuesday. The Commission sources said he was sent under judicial remand for failing to post the bail.
On Tuesday, Parajuli had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the Commission’s jurisdiction to detain and charge-sheet him on charge of corruption.
