The parties that have filed for registration include Rastriya Prajatantra party and Nepal Sadbhavana Party. Newly launched Rastriya Jana Shakti Party led by former premier Surya Bahadur Thapa and ‘Democratic Nepal’ Party led by former minister Keshar Bahadur Bista have also filed applications at the EC.
Thapa has, however, warned that his party may boycott municipal elections if an environment was not created for all the parties to take part in the elections.
The seven party opposition alliance that is protesting against the royal takeover did not apply for the registration at the EC. The alliance has said it will boycott all type of elections to be conducted by what it calls the ‘unconstitutional government.’
