Former chief justices stated serious attention

Kathmandu, Nov. 18- Six former chief justices have stated that their serious attention has been drawn towards the unwarranted comments being made over the past few days against the judiciary that has been successful in maintaining judicial good governance by preserving the faith and belief of the Nepali people.Former chief justices Surendra Pratap Singh, Trilok Pratap Rana, Om Bhakta Shrestha, Keshav Prasad Upadhyaya, Govinda Bahadur Shrestha and Hari Prasad Sharma today issued a joint appeal, stating that as an independent and efficient judicial system is the foundation of democracy, the universally accepted norms that works to be discharged by the judiciary should not be subjected to any undue influence from any quarters was clear to one and all. In the appeal, the former chief justices have stated that acts undermining the fundamental norms of the independent judicial system have become a matter of concern to all the justice-loving Nepali people, adding that the justice-loving people have been concerned that acts such as publicly passing on comments which would have unwarranted influence on matters that are sub-judicial and showing disrespect to the order and decisions of the court would hurt the public faith towards the judiciary.They have also wished for the continued progress of the positive thinking towards keeping intact the independence and prestige of the judiciary and easily accepting the orders and decisions handed down by the court regarding the judicial cases.
