Court orders seizure of Dhungana’s property

Kathmandu, Nov. 15 The Special Court has ordered the seizure of property worth Rs. 7.5 million of then non-gazetted officer of the Birgunj Customs Office Kedar Dhungana.A bench comprising judges Govinda Prasad Parajuli, Rana Bahadur Bam and Bhupadhoj Adhikary passed the verdict, as the said property of Dhungana has found to be amassed illegally.The Commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority had filed a corruption case at the court against Dhungana in 2059 BS demanding the seizure of his illegally earned property. The CIAA had claimed that out of his total asset of Rs. 15.8 million, Rs. 12.6 million will ill gotten. But, the court did not issue sentence, as Dhungana died after the case was filed.Dhungana was found to have kept lots of shares of different banks and companies, and land property in the name of his wife Saraswati, son Arun, and daughters Anita and Binita.
