CIAA withdraws RBB officer’s suspension
Kathmandu, Nov. 12-: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has withdrawn the suspension of Kedar Mainali, legal officer at the central office of Rastrya Banijya Bank. Mainali was suspended five months ago after complaint that he was involved in irregularities while auctioning the collateral of the bank. The bank had auctioned the land deposited by Dharmananda Awasthi of Maitidevi while taking loan from the bank. When he failed to pay the loan after the stipulated six months, the bank had decided to auction the land. But a team, including Mainali, while inspecting the land had found that the land deposited was actually the area covered by Bagmati River and its bank. The team had submitted a report saying that the land was also not accessible by road. Then the debtor Awasthi had filed a complaint at the CIAA saying that the report was false and the auction was illegal resulting in the suspension of Mainali. But the investigation of the CIAA found that Mainali was not the authoritative person to sanction the auction and the auction itself was according to the bank rules. Mainali has attended office from November 8.
