'No distribution, sale of news without govt's permission'

Kathmandu, Nov 16: His Majesty’s Government has notified the publishers, broadcasting institutions and common people that it has prohibited the sale and distribution of news to any publisher, broadcasting institution and individual without permission from the government as per the recently promulgated Ordinance Relating to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Communication –2062 BS.As per the amendment in the Clause 2 of Article 32 of National News Agency Act 2019 BS, the national and international news agencies can distribute news in the Kingdom only after taking permission from His Majesty’s Government, said a statement of Ministry of Information and Communications issued Tuesday. It has forbidden the publishers, broadcasting institutions and common people not to purchase and not allow others to purchase news from the news agencies, which have not been allowed to sell and distribute the news in the country.
